Robbie

Our Core Viewer

The central character Robbie is typical of the type of core viewer the series will target.

The animated Real Heroes series will follow the life of a young boy Robbie who lives with his mother and spends many afternoons with his grandfather. His grandfather loves to tell stories, especially the great old stories of the Bible. Robbie visualises these stories and transposes many of the people living in his neighbourhood into the lead roles.

Robbie and his Grandfather are fictional characters. The main stories revolve around great heroes of the Bible but with a twist, the primary aim of the series is to bring the great stories of the Bible to life through 3D animation with lots of contemporary themes, incorporating modern technology and lacing it with plenty of young boy’s humour.

Robert is eleven years old and could live in a town house in Parramatta or New York with Mum and his younger sister. He believes in his skateboard, his Xbox and the internet. He loves to download music for his iPod. He has heard about God from his Scripture classes in school, and has also started using the word “hypocrite” due to being a good junior “XGen”. He feigns a studied world-weariness that covers the deep longing in his heart that there is still the hope of life being heroic. Spiderman and the Hulk, whilst unattainable, still provide him with a role model.

Robert is too scientific to believe in faith, though an all-purpose level of superstition is sprinkled over the top. He rarely contemplates infinity. With his peers it is generally accepted Christians are a bit nerdy, though his private thoughts may not be so certain. One thing is for sure, he is convinced his wilder thoughts and actions are proof that he can never fit into their world.

Robert watches The Simpsons and loads of “M” rated movies, his favorite being “The Matrix”. This struck a tingly spiritual chord, but he doesn't understand the feeling. Lara Croft is cool, in fact almost anything his peers like, is cool.
